Breastfeeding Peer Support

Leeds Breastfeeding Peer Support

  •  11 weekly Breastfeeding Support Group Sessions
  • Over 2000 Families supported in groups and on postnatal wards
  • 169 pumps loaned meaning women can provide breastmilk for their babies

Our breastfeeding support programme is funded by LCC Public Health and provides advice and support from specialist, trained advisers to new mums. Our network of trained volunteers, Leeds Bosom Buddies, provide guidance and non judgemental support face to face in groups or on postnatal wards. Our groups are held in warm, welcoming, friendly centres across the city 5 days a week. To date, we have trained over 100 women to become breastfeeding peer supporters, facilitate 8 support groups across Leeds and continue to expand the network across the city, each week the coordinator will oversee 2/3 groups which enables specialist support to be given.

Through the pump loan scheme we are pleased to be able to provide free to access hospital grade pumps. the pumps are loaned for four weeks to parents of premature or sick babies or those experiencing urgent clinical need.
